PRO GOLF with PGA CHAMPION Collin Morikawa
Single-take aerial coverage of PGA champion Collin Morikawa, scouted five days out to guarantee no retakes.
Collin Morikawa is an American professional golfer, winner of the 2020 PGA Championship and the 2021 Open Championship. Casual Films contacted DRONESURF to film him at the TPC Las Vegas course in Nevada, and needed a crew that could get the shot of the star without re-runs or inconvenience.
DRONESURF was on the course five days ahead of the shoot to scout angles and aircraft positions across the Red Rock Canyon setting. The team also produced the permits and safety briefs required for flight clearance. The shots were used in a TV commercial for the PGA and a worldwide insurance company.

Engineering challenge
A major champion gives you one swing. The entire flight plan had to be pre-solved — positions, altitudes, approach paths, and abort options fixed before the talent arrived — because a second attempt was not available.
Red Rock Canyon adds terrain and thermal behaviour to the flight envelope, which is why the scout ran five days out rather than the morning of. The one-take result was a product of pre-production engineering, not luck.
