Aerial cinematography for the worldwide release of the Panasonic GH5 Mark II, shot as a snow-to-beach California Double.
Panasonic ambassador Matthew Sutterland reached out to DRONESURF to fly the newly released Panasonic GH5 Mark II for its worldwide launch. His team and DRONESURF coordinated with production to create engaging shots that would show off the subtle image quality of the new camera.
The shoot covered both snow and beach in a single package, better known as the "California Double." DRONESURF secured the permits to film at Malibu Beach from the California Film Commission and authored the safety manual for the operation. On the day, the team coordinated shots around talent, moving cars, other camera units, surfers, and changing weather.

Engineering challenge
When a camera manufacturer hires you to launch its flagship sensor, the footage is the product demonstration. There is no grading your way out of a soft frame, so the aerial package had to hold up as evidence of the camera's own image quality.
Operationally, the beach day was a deconfliction problem rather than a shot list: moving vehicles, surfers in the water, and multiple ground camera units sharing one airspace. DRONESURF wrote the safety manual that governed it and pulled the California Film Commission permits.
